E-GOVERNANCE TOOLS AND PROSPECTS OF SERVICE DELIVERY IN
FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
Abstract
Efficient service delivery in governance has continued to be a challenge in recent times despite technological advancement in ICT and e-governance tools; as the increasing demand for accountability and transparency is putting pressure on public service to embrace digital innovation. This article is carried out to examines e-governance tools and prospects of service delivery in Federal Ministry of Education. The article is survey research that administered three hundred and twenty (320) copies of structured questionnaires using random sampling technique to administer to administrative officers and professionals with verse experience in ICT and e-governance tools as well as those in the management cadre and field officers in the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) Abuja. Using Taro Yamane formula to determine the sample size. The hypothesis testing using Chi-square analysis reveals that there is a significant relationship between e-governance tools and service delivery performance. The Ranking analysis reveals that Microsoft excel, mobile based service monitoring, Microsoft project ranked as the commonest e-governance tools used while teleconference, e-service bay and Nd modeling integrated are the least tools use for e-governance in FME. It is recommended that FME should have a standard e-governance policy, training and retraining of its personnel on the use of E-governance tools, as this would improve the prospects of e-governance in service delivery and enhance transparency in service delivery in FME.
